Our volunteers at Makeovers that Matter serve a great purpose to the overall goal of our organization. With their help, Makeovers That Matter is able to makeover these women inside and out. Our volunteers are such a valuable resource to this cause because of their ability to work willingly together for the betterment of the female veteran community and themselves.
Alexander Z. Rivkin, M.D.
Dr. Rivkin is a globally recognized expert and lecturer on minimally invasive aesthetics and non-surgical facial sculpting. A trained facial cosmetic surgeon educated at Yale and Columbia, Dr. Rivkin is the founder of Westside Aesthetics – a nationally recognized clinical and research center of excellence for non-surgical cosmetic procedures. He is best known for inventing and popularizing the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure. Dr. Rivkin’s vision is to change the way aesthetic medicine is practiced today. He wants to see all patients have more noninvasive cosmetic options.

Amanda Cohen, M.A., L.A.c., Doctoral Fellow (D.A.O.M), is a Board Certified Chinese Medical Physician (L.A.c.) who is passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal wellbeing. She holds a Master’s Degree from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine (Summa Cum Laude) and is a Doctoral Fellow (Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) at Emperor’s College. Ms. Cohen also holds a Master’s Degree in Health Psychology and Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, with an emphasis on mental and physical stress. She holds a dual Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Cultural Anthropology (Cum Laude) and Clinical Psychology. As an integrative primary care physician, Ms. Cohen specializes in stress, stress-related disorders, sciatica, neck pain, migraines & headaches, and physical and emotional trauma.
Amy is committed to treating each client as a unique individual and catering to their specific needs. Working with Trina Belton at the Facial Bungalow, we have upped the bar with the newest advanced anti-aging machines. Such as Mirco-current, LED, Oxygen, Radio Frequency, and Micro-Phototherapy.
She was also medically trained at Rapaport Dermatology in Beverly Hills. Here she has learned extensive knowledge about prescription medicines for the skin conditions and diseases, how to correctly treat her clients who have medical needs and how to perform perfect extractions without irritating the skin.

Cathy Tran has been styling hair and doing make-up since she was old enough to hold a comb and blush brush in her hand.
She got started in Northern California in her mother’s salon where she was able to learn and experiment with hair color, her specialty. Now working out of Corona, California Cathy has been named four years in a row one of the Inland Empire’s best colorists. Spending most of her free time prefecture her skills by taking every class offered by the best in the business. Cathy’s motto is “You are never too old to learn and never too young to be the best.” She never turns down a chance to do good work, whether it is correcting damaged color or providing free makeovers on mother”s day, Cathy remains one of the best in the business.

Doreen Ferris is a certified 200hr Yoga Instructor and combat veteran. When her contract ended with the US Army on active duty in April 2013 Doreen knew that she needed a healing vehicle to help her get back into her body. Her first week out of active duty she signed up for a Yoga Teacher Training that helped to reconnect her mind with her body. She continues to practice yoga regularly and looks forward to volunteering her time by bringing yoga classes to Makeovers That Matter’s Mindset Program. Presently she is working on her Masters of Business Administration in the hopes of either becoming a manager in fitness or healthcare. She is committed to creating a heart and body connection by working with others to learn to love their bodies. Peace.
Ebony Tasé was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She has always been infatuated with everything about beauty. Growing up around her older cousin, who was also a stylist, she would always style doll’s hair using her cousin’s beauty tools. Since receiving her cosmetology license and studying at Howard University, Ebony Tasé is now getting down to business by teaming up with other beauty industry professionals throughout Los Angeles in promoting beauty and fashion.
Edward A. McLaren, D.D.S., M.D.C.
Dr. McLaren is a Prosthodontist, Professor, and Director of Post Graduate Esthetic Dentistry at the UCLA School of Dentistry. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of Oregon Dental School. He is the director of the UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry, a full time didactic and clinical program for graduate dentists. He is also the founder and director of the UCLA Master Dental Ceramist program. The residency program is a full-time master ceramist program for dental technicians featuring extensive experience with the newest esthetic restorative systems. Dr. McLaren maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics and esthetic dentistry in which he does all of his own ceramics.
Heather Andrews trained at SACO academy in San Diego where she learned the latest coloring and cutting techniques. She currently works as a junior stylist at Indo Salon and as an assistant to Janet Barajas. Although new the industry, Heather has worked on many editorial photo shoots and has become known for her natural-looking highlights.

Janet has built a thriving and loyal clientele based upon her artful skill of delivering soft, sexy, natural and flirty looks. Her creative and comprehensive approach to the art of hair has earned her a solid reputation that speaks for itself. She specializes in extensions and multi-dimensional color. Janet has also worked on American Idol and The Girls Next Door. She has been featured as part of glam squads on The Doctors and The Home and Family Show. She has several covers of Playboy in which her hairstyling has been featured. She is also the owner of the ever-growing Indo Salon, a private studio in West Hollywood where she can mainly be found.

Dr. Jeffrey P Olson is a Chicago native and has been in Los Angeles for several years building a noninvasive cosmetic and laser practice. He trained in anesthesiology at Chicago Medical School and subsequently a top 10 residency program at the University of Chicago Hospitals through 1999. Scott Williams works at Pembrook Productions and is the creative director + CEO. Scott has enjoyed an award-winning career that has included creatively overseeing high-profile network rebrands, numerous television and film main titles, TV promos, mobile apps, internet gaming, short-form content, and national commercials. Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz is involved in women’s empowerment and public education and appears frequently as an expert in women’s and integrative health on TV, online and in print. Dr. Suzanne completed her undergraduate education at Wesleyan University and post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Mills College.
